When the manic Dr Robotnik returns to Earth with a new ally, Knuckles the Echidna, Sonic and his new friend Tails is all that stands in their way.

Following the success of the first film, Paramount Pictures announced the sequel in May 2020, with Fowler returning as director, while Casey and Josh Miller returned as writers, and Schwartz, Carrey and the rest of the cast reprised their roles from the previous film. Filming took place from March to June 2021 in Vancouver and Hawaii.
