DELPHINE TRIO - Classical Music Series

Sunday 22nd January

Time: 3pm

DELPHINE TRIO - Classical Music Series at the Festival Drayton Centre

This talented trio of young musicians delights in performing a diverse repertoire and promises to bring new and arousing music to the Festival Centre audience.

Clarinetist Magdalenna Krstevska’s many accolades include ‘Australian National Young Virtuoso’. Cellist Jobine Siekman has been featured as ‘Rising Star’ artist in the BBC Music Magazine. And pianist Roelof Temmingh has won the Royal College of Music’s Tagore Gold Medal.

Their concert will open with an early, lyrical, Beethoven trio (opus 11). It will move into a different sound world with Robert Delanoff’s ‘slightly jazzy, sometimes impressionistic’ trio and John Psathas’ Island Songs – ‘an exotic set based on Greek traditional dances.’  Kenneth Leighton’s Fantasy on an American Hymn Tune opens with the theme sung as plainchant, and slowly and intensely develops into what the trio says will be the emotional core of their programme.

We are grateful for financial support for this concert from the Musicians’ Company.
