DUNEV STRING QUARTET - CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES
Sunday 7th April
Formed at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2017, the members of the Dunev string quartet are a strong emerging talent in chamber music.
Individually the members have won numerous awards. Violinist Mahaliah was the recipient of the Be Inspired Youth Award 2017; fellow violinist Hristo won first prize at the Young Virtuoso International Competition; Eleanor won the Vicci Wardman Prize for viola; and cellist Alice has picked up a range of awards at the South Glamorgan Festival for Young Musicians.
The programme will feature Schubert's Quartet in A Minor, also known as Rosamunde, "One of those rare works that let us know from the very opening that we are in the presence of a masterpiece." It is paired with Shostakovich's Quartet No 8, sometimes called The Dresden, "A masterpiece of the twentieth century."
This is music that speaks to the soul, and in the hands of this talented ensemble will make a powerful impact.
