INVENTUS WIND QUINTET - CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES

Sunday 10th February

Time: 3:00pm

INVENTUS WIND QUINTET - CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES at the Festival Drayton Centre

Inventus has already won an impressive number of awards considering the five young musicians are at a relatively early stage of their careers. Last year they won the Leamington Music Prize, and previously were finalists in the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Prize.

The quintet brings together flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon. Their programme will range from the classical era to late twentieth century and include music by Mozart and Reicha, a lifelong friend of Beethoven whose quintets established the genre. Shorter pieces by Dich, Ibert and Ligeti will be followed by Klughardt's Wind Quintet from 1901 which starts in a mysterious vein before playfully switching between the instruments' voices and ending full of high spirits.

The talented members of this ensemble are enthusiastic proselytisers for chamber music, working regularly in schools and giving workshops to all ages. Their concert promises to engage lovers of the genre and newcomers alike.
